Ferrel currently serves as Commissioner, Fort Bend County Emergency Services District 7 (FBCESD7), providing health, emergency services, and medical services support to 35,000 Fort Bend County residents. Ferrel is a Husband, Father, and Grandfather who has resided in Fort Bend County for the past 21 years. He holds a Master’s Degree of Public Administration (Public Policy) from Texas Southern University and Bachelor’s Degree of Political Science (Local Government) from Fayetteville State University.
Ferrel’s career spans well over 40 years of military service, civil service, political, and grassroots advocacy experience. For the past 21 years, he has proudly served this county and worked as a public and community servant.
Ferrel is a Retired U.S. Army Combat Veteran with 20 years of honorable service, and a specialty as a Military Intelligence Analyst in support of the National Security Agency’s (NSA) mission in defense of the United States. He is a Gulf War Combat Veteran whose career began in the U.S. Army where he specialized in the following areas: Military Intelligence; U.S. Special Operations AIRBORNE; PATRIOT Missile Defense; Security Management; Emergency Operations Center (EOC); Tactical Communications; Personnel Management; and executing quality control programs for the Department of Defense (DoD) and other Federal agencies.
His professional career includes: Office of the Secretary and Under Secretary, Headquarters Department of Veterans Affairs Washington, DC; Department of Veterans Affairs, Veteran Service Representative Houston, Texas; U.S. Department of Justice Contractor (USDOJ); Texas Division of Emergency Management; Certified Cyber Security Practitioner; Facility Information Security Officer (FISO); and Information Assurance Officer (IASO).

I’ll utilize my extensive experience in Emergency Management and Disaster Response, gained through practical real-world situations in the National Capitol Region of Washington DC, protecting military bases, working throughout the State of Texas, assisting countries during national disasters, and various community support efforts, I am dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for our communities.
